Centre Island

The weather this weekend was perfecto for spending time outdoors, what with the oppressive heat finally letting up and all......

After much arguing, a few broken glasses and as always, a domestic disturbance call to the cops; my BF and I agreed to spend the day at Centre Island.  A trip that was long overdue considering its been years since either of us made the journey...........

Our ferry to the Islands

Natually, the first thing we did was nosh on some deep fried goodies:

It pains me to say this, but this was the WORST funnel cake Ive ever had :(

At the Petting Zoo, we made some friends of the 4-legged variety:

I felt SO THIN standing next to him.............

PONIES!!!!  I WANT A PONY!!!!!
Maya & Kaluha: my new BFF's

We stopped at the kiddie amusement park Centreville, but couldnt handle all the little bastards screaming.  A quick stop at the sky-gondolas and we bolted:

so freakin' expensive

The sky-gondola-thingies were fun.....

Look at the big ass down below!!

We then rented a 2 seater bicycle like a-couple-a-douches and pedaled to the beachier side of the island.  Normally Im a total hater when it comes to Lake Ontario, but honestly, it looked super clean & refreshing.  If you drink enough alcohol, suffer from mild heat-stroke, and squint just hard enough, you'd SWEAR it was the ocean.......

Heres what i wore...the skirt cost me $5 & was super comf!!  Not to mention ridiculously high-waisted........

Beat the Heat

In this oppressive, smouldering heat, the only way to keep cool is to wear is a breezy, oversized, cotton, tent-like tunic:

......and an ice cold can of my favourite drink in the world doesnt hurt either!

Swimming Along.......

This weekend, the BF & I celebrated our anniversary by relaxing & sipping cocktails at the beautiful Radisson roof-top pool.  Because the only way we know how to celebrate is by gettin half nekkid & slammin back as much alcohol as we can......

I highly, highly, highly, reccomend it; especially if you cant swing a vacation right now. I normally cant stand public pools, but with the Radisson's high cover charge (Friday-Sunday $35/Monday-Thursday $25), the riff-raff is kept out and its much cleaner than most.  Word of advice: get there early beause by 2pm there wasn't an available lounge chair in sight!
Its on the 5th floor, so it offers spectacular views of the city:

Because its a hotel, it offers pool-side food & drink service...which TOTALLY added to the relaxing vibe of actually being on vacation!  The wait-staff were so friendly & accomodating.  Naturally, we completely indulged:

The Menu
We started with caesars: savoury & spicy.....
......then I moved on to the sweetness of strawberry daquiris!
Sliders....not bad but a bit over-cooked.
Chicken burrito with sweet potato fries (they get major point for using Fleur de Sel on the fries)
The pepperoni pizza was my fave.....sometimes simple & basic is best!

I RELISHED the chance to use all my summery beachy swag:

1.  A bright romper is the perfect swimsuit cover-up:
2.  Pool-side essentials:
a) limited edition Louis Vuitton Ambre beach bag
b) spray on sun-screen
c) a best-selling book that you MUST read before Hollywood releases the movie version (The Help by Kathryn Stockett)

3.  A bright turquoise bikini (only $18 from Old Navy!)

Summer Pants

Theres nothing better than a warm breeze against bare skin, so when summer arrives I pretty much live in dresses, skirts & shorts.  But once in a while, summer pants can be a really chic & comfy alternative.  Especially on days you dont feel like shaving your legs........

A few friendly suggestions for summer pants:

1. Choose cotton or cotton blend fabrics.  Wool or 100% polyester will suffocate you.
2. Keep it summery by wearing open toe sandals.
3. Crop dat shit - roll up your pant legs to show some ankle (unless youre wearing wide-legs)
4. Dont be afraid to wear light coloured bottoms - summer is the perfect opportunity for this.
5. Show a flash of skin somewhere else.  Flaunt bare arms in a tank top, or a yummy little slice of tummy in a crop-top.

and finally.........

6. Always, always, always wear your pants HIGH-WAISTED!!

Blue Suede Shoes

.....ok so technically they're not suede, theyre canvas.  But that doesnt change the fact that my new sandals are SUPERGORGE!!

Ive obsessively worn them 3 days in a row now, & I love the fun, bright, unexpected pop of colour they add to any outfit.......

.......not to mention they look wicked with a tan!  But then again......WHAT DOESN'T?

Summery Summary

In the summertime, my social life takes a 180 degree turn.  During Toronto's brutal winters, I want nothing more than to get home early, eat something carby and/or creamy, put on my jammie-jams and watch TV till I drift off to sleep around 9:30pm.  But this time of year, the combination of extra daylight, Vitamin D, and warm temperatures makes me want to be active and social.  Although I must admit, Im still not sure Im more excited about getting out there OR having the chance to wear a vast variety of summer outfits!!

On that note, heres a summery summary of a few of my fave outfits thus far:

Im beyond obsessed with this crochet vest!

Purple dress from Nepal - perfect for spending time with my BFF!

Completely hungover + no makeup = THE WALKING DEAD (but soooo comfy!)

OMW to kayak around Lake Ontario........my God woman - FILL IN YOUR EYEBROWS!!!
